Hauora

L.I: to show our understanding of Hauora in context

Athletes are trained to be physically and mentally fit because it helps their body and their mind accomplish more by pushing their limits.

Having all 4 walls of your whare tapa wha is important so you can feel balanced, if your whare tapa wha is down you will feel unbalance and it will be easier to lose focus and it makes you feel nervous, but as long as your whare tapa wha is balanced you will feel proud of yourself even if you lose because losing is a good thing because you can train more and not make that mistake again.

If you win you will feel accomplished and feel happy with all the hard work you have put in to your training it will help you feel successful when you have won.

Mindfulness Reflection #1

LI: to learn about Mindfulness

Mindfulness is about calming your body and mind, focusing on the present and leaving any negativity behind. Being able to have a positive mindset.

For this new programme we were learning about how to be mindful, and how to rest our mind. This programme helped us meditate and learn how to get into a positive mindset rather being in a negative place in our mind.

When meditating we focused on our posture and our breathing, which helped us relax and chill. Doing this helped us focused on the present and kept our minds in the present rather than losing concentration, to the cause of mind wandering.

Organizing and Researching

LI: To use our smart searching skills to expand our knowledge of Ancient Greek Mythology.

Today David shared the next reading challenge with us. It is all about the Greek gods and helps us to practise the skills we have been learning in our reading lessons with our teachers.

David created this task as part of his CARE award challenges. In this smart searching activity, we used our comprehension and research skills to learn about Greek Mythology vocabulary and identify Greek places on the map.

I found this activity fun because I was able to learn about the Greek vocabulary and learn about the places in Greece. The word/place I found most interesting was Plato because he was an Athenian philosopher that discovered and researched many things.

Identifying Comparison

LI: To use our smart reserching skills to expand our knowledge of ancient Greek Mythology

Today David shared the next reading challenge with us. It is all about the Greek gods and helps us to practise the skills we have been learning in our reading lessons with our teachers.

David created this task as part of his CARE award challenges. In this smart searching activity, we used our comprehension and research skills to learn about the difference between Athens and Sparta.

I found this activity interesting because learnt new facts about Athens and Sparta.

The fact I found most interesting was the amount of civiliens because I didn't know that much civiliens lived there.

Descriptive Writing

LI: To understand how to use descriptive words to make your writing more interesting

Our focus for writing this week was to use descriptive writing, which means using words that are powerful, making your text more exciting to read and add more detail into your writing. We were tasked to work collaboratively in pairs to complete this task.

Our task was to describe one of the two pictures that we were given. To make this task easier we would use our prior knowledge of sentence structures, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and descriptive words to create a piece of writing that uses descriptive words to make the text exciting to read.

Venn Diagram

LI: to find as many similarities and differences as you can between the video and the text of “The Beginning”.

To continue our learning of Matariki, and the Maori story of Creation our task was to create a Venn Diagram. For our Venn Diagram we compared the differences and similarities between the Video and Written Version of the Maori Creation Story.

A Venn Diagram, is a diagram showcasing the differences and similarities between two different things.

Matariki Summary

LI: to explain in fewer words what the text is about

For our Inquiry we were learning about Matariki, and the origin story. Our task was to watch a video on the Maori Creation story and we had to summarise the video. The video was an artist representing and creating the story through sand art.

Our 20 important words had to be the top important words from the video, words that represented the story. Then from the 20 we had to pick the 6 most important words Then using those 6 words we had to sum up the story in a few sentences.

 LI:To strengthen connections to technolgy.

We have been Learning about Technological practice. This week we have been learning about the 6 procceses of technological design and how each one is important to design the product.
We are using the processes of the technological practices to design and build a rubber-band powered rover that can scramble across the floor. It is interesting because we can find the materials and create it at home.

LI: To use your smart searching skills to find out who Sir Issac Newton was and how his work connects to Simple machines

For Reading we were Learning About Sir Isaac Newton and All his discoveries in individual groups, To help with our reasearching and collabrative skills. For our DLO we made an interactive DLO which show the different discoveries that Newton had discovered while also explaining how he is important to mordern science. It was very easy and kind of fun to do because as a group we could discover interesting things about Isaac Newton and all his discoveries and theories.

Duffy Assembly

Today we had A Duffy Assembly.

Marc Duffy spoke to us about believing in ourself and not giving up, Marc Duffy told a story about a young boy named "Fred" and how this young boy could not read as a young child  he would always read right to left instead of left to right i normal way so he had gotten bullied a lot because of it so after 6 years of being in that school the parents moved him to a different school but Fred still could'nt read properly so he was moved again to a school in Manurewa but after a year or two Fred had gotten suspended because Fred was kind of mischivious of course after this he started talking to the wrong people that he should'nt have been talking too.

After this happened the went to a Juvinile but then he went to Prison, At Prison Fred had met a teacher who taught him how to read properly using a ruler which helped Fred read on the right side, the Teacher did this for Fred for a whole year, After Fred got out he fully knew how to read so after this Freds life started going up hill and now Fred who is actually Marc Duffy is the owner of a big store in Hamilton.

Marc Duffy now has 3 kids 1 which he adopted from samoa and Duffy also said take away the t from cant and turn it into a can cause if you believe you can do it.
